MICHIGAN HISTORY STORY TELLING/PUPPETRY TUTORED BY
ABOUT THE TUTOR
Hello, my name is Kate Geer. I live in Grand Rapids
along with my wonderful husband Jeff and our two beautiful daughters Jessica
(16yrs) and Samantha (9yrs). We have been homeschooling for the past 8yrs and
have been members of Koinonia for 3yrs. We are active members at St.Isidores
church in Grand Rapids. I received my Bachelors in Social Work degree from Grand
Valley State University and have previously held positions in the Social Work
and Youth Ministries fields. Currently I have been a Stay at Home/
Homeschooling mom, which has been my most rewarding and challenging job yet!
I love the hands on learning experiences homeschooling offers. It is vital that our children learn from our past. I am
looking forward to bringing Michigan History alive by utilizing the Kids
Michigan Time Traveler program provided by the Michigan Historical Center
and the Lansing State Journal. This is an awesome hands on learning tool that
will really help the kids connect with our past. It is going to be a blast! The art of Storytelling is also, in a way, a thing from
the past that should be passed on to our children especially in today’s
technological society. The children will be using their creative minds to
bring meaning to storybook characters, poems, skits and most importantly
parables through the use of voice, music, puppets, art and more. They will
learn the value of communicating to others through the process of
storytelling. I praise God for this awesome teaching opportunity and
for the precious children he has entrusted us with. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me at 447-2061. |
